We love your Volvo as much as you do! Our goal is to become an expert with each individual vehicle’s history, to learn how the owner uses it, and to assess and prioritize its needs. The life expectancy of a battery, the DOT manufacturing code on your tires, and the integrity of your car’s timing belt are just some of the details that matter. We’re happy to show you how, where, and why a repair is needed.

Our technicians are paid hourly. This approach allows them to take the time necessary to get the job done properly, and it ensures that their paychecks are consistent. Sufficient time allows all jobs to be completed to factory specifications, and it ensures all belts and fasteners are in place.

We offer our technicians a living wage, paid holidays and vacation, a retirement plan, and a 4-day work week – they always have a three-day weekend.

We have a large inventory of new parts in stock for Volvos ranging from 1975-present. We can often get the job done faster than most shops, and with higher quality, factory correct parts.

We have a wide service area that includes: Whatcom, Skagit, San Juan, Island, and Snohomish Counties. We regularly draw customers from British Columbia, Canada, Seattle, Olympia, and Eastern Washington. With prior arrangement, we can provide our customers with a loaner car. Reduce, Reuse, Recycle: We have the coveted Envirostar 5-Star Status!

Environmental responsibility is a core value at Rainbow Auto Service. We recover and recycle all automotive fluids generated during the course of repair work as well as cardboard and paper. Engine oil, antifreeze, transmission, fluid, brake fluid, and refrigerant are all collected to be recycled, reprocessed, or disposed of according to EPA regulations. We also collect and recycle all waste metals generated by the repair process; these include steel, aluminum, copper, and iron.

By keeping your car in fine operating condition, you are preserving its embodied energy. The electrical and fossil fuel energy that it took to source, process, and manufacture the materials and components for your vehicle will not be wasted prematurely.
